I knew right away while having coffee with this couple that I would LOVE this wedding. And I absolutely did. One of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen- I absolutely recommend the Loden Hotel in Vancouver. And creating a cocktail rooftop party was executed perfectly by this bride and groom. XO
Fall is my most favorite time in Whistler. It is ridiculously busy with the beginning of school, the start of the winter season- and the deperate run of doing everything you can before the snow falls from long walks to cleaning out the yard and finishing house repairs.
And then... in the midst of that we have this unbelievably beautiful season- leaves and trees and mountains and sweet sun with gorgeous light. And so I take as many sessions as possible and celebrate inside when the light, and the day works with the scheduled session. This was one of those days.
I was feeling reminiscent last night looking through this blog.... I am getting close to relaunching my new blog and website- and was feeling sad about the loss of this one... I clicked back to the first couple blog posts from 2006- Cannot believe how much has changed- this career- my style and skill- and really just life. I looked at these two photos of my little ones in awe of who they were and who they are becoming.

When I first entered into the land of wedding photography I was completely drawn to Junebug weddings- a wedding blog out of Seattle... I used to check everyday and look at all of the beautiful images and featured weddings... To now be one of the featured photographers is such a dream! Thank you Junebug!
I loved this wedding... and thought it was done beautifully- but what I loved most about it was not the incredible style- it was the authenticity. It was entirely and perfectly authentic. x0

It was such an amazing compliment when I first got the email from this mom- asking for not one session but three- wanting to capture a year of this precious little ones life. And it was a further compliment when they additionally booked the add on video portion. We are trying to set a story of their life... as it is right now- going to the places they go- seeing and experiencing this little ones story.
For session number one we started at home dancing to music, playing in her room- and then went to a favortite coffee shop. You can view that session here.
For this second session we met for a picnic- feasted on macarons from Soirette - Went to Collage Collage to read books and play with crafts, and then headed to the community garden to pick peas and flowers... the perfect afternoon.
Just a delightful family- and a very very loved little girl.

What I love about Whistler is that I find a new place to photograph every week.
When we moved this last summer a whole new area opened up to me- little nooks and cranny's in the forest, by the lakes and spots of light as the seasons change. This is my secret spot.. I love it...
And I love this family... I felt like this session was so them- just relaxed and fun and beautiful.

these delightful little ones had me running and often in two directions as we explored around the neighborhood! it is always an absolute joy to work with such loving families!
as an added bonus this family also ordered the add on video (i love this option as it gives me the chance to work with the talented weddings in motion) - i think it is the perfect compliment to the photos.

I know.... I have been a terrible blogger- and there is no excuse except that I have been busy editing and photographing the most beutiful weddings and families... so busy I just could not find the time to share! however the rain has come and the schedule is finding a slower space... and I am back.
I knew just the images that I wanted to come back with too- just the prettiest wedding-
just a sneak peek (more to come)

i had the honor of teaching another photography summer course through the whistler arts council at the lake house on alta lake. i love doing it... it renews my love of photography every time... i remember in my teaching my love of light, of capturing moments. here are a few photos from the day! xoxo
thanks to my friend julie for coming out to help and her sweet kids... and thank you to Peggy from FrostBites for bringing out, and lugging in her snow cone machine!
xxoo
they got up... a normal day and then they got dressed...
i was walking the dog... and they found me on the trail on the bikes.... to show me the new "looks"
i really had nothing to do with it...
or did i?? maybe i did... gosh... i hope so, come to think of it.
i hope the way i am raising them, loving them... caring for them, speaking to them... i hope it is all has something big to do with them being creative, and unique and strong and individual. i hope the friends we are choosing to have- the people we spend time with- the music we listen too... the way we speak- gosh... i hope it is investing into these little men.
becasue as much as i can pretend to act how i think i need to act- to be slightly embarrased by my eight year old in underwear and a cape- i am going to be a whole lot of honest right here right now- i am beyond proud... like moved to tears proud of them- the little one who does not give a %*@& what anyone thinks about him- completely enthralled in his imagination and world of being super caleb- with the super power of tape hands and a nemesis of metal- friend of the sharks (found on his underwear) and arch enemy of our friend josh. and the old one- who loves style and fashion and clothes and shopping- and buttoning up and tucking in his shirt and who is brave enough to wear it out becasue he likes it- not because he is trying to fit in- but becasue he is so secure in himself- and then this same boy who in the same breath can be so passionate about adreneline- snowboarding and skateboarding and new tricks- he is just... secure in his own body in EVERY way and I find myself impressed and a little jealous.
i took this photo on my phone. not set up- just a moment in my life with them. and it is my favorite photo to date- because it tells me i am doing a good job as a mom. i have a lot to do with this, and them. and i wonder if i walked in that idea a little more... i wonder what more could come- i have taught them to be confident and secure- and so need to walk that out myself and say it. i am a great mom... come on... look at these boys:)
I love everything about this girl... if you are not following her or getting her daily poems you should:)

Remember this adorable couple? HERE
They had a baby girl! SO cute, so sweet.... i love everything about photographing babies- the sweet newness- the little noises and looks- all of it. And then I love handing the baby back to the tired parents and coming home and sleeping through the night:)

this made me laugh! "imitating baby'
